Growing my hair out was something I had always
wanted to do. I visioned long, flowing hair that would set me apart and expressed my individuality. To my parents, though, it looked unruly—hardly the way they wanted to present their child. Eventually, they decided it was time for a change, and off we went to the barbershop.
